how many miles do you have on your automatic trans?

How many miles do you have on your automatic transmission WITHOUT repair or replacement.

Please states your maintenence schedule and what kind of driving do you do?

Also, what year and 2wd or 4wd.

Thanks!!

98 4Runner 4WD- 149,xxx. Regular maintenance, nothing special. I'm the second owner and the previous owner religiously took the truck to Toyota for any and all maintenance and repairs. This is my daily driver, sees highway, city, and occasional off-roading

96 4Runner 2WD- 202,xxx. Unknown maintenance, 3rd owner. My brother drive this truck and he is clueless when it comes to maintenance. He drives it like he stole it.

Both of us haven't had any problems with our auto boxes.

2002 4Runner Limited
4wd
125,6xx miles
Every Toyota recommended service completed with roughly a 3,000 mile lag (i.e the 15k service done at 18k, 50k at 53k and so on)
Has had one transmission flush at 99k
Nothing besides the flush has been done to the transmission
Easily driven for it's first 75k miles, driven by my mom, and since then I have put 50,000 hard miles on it and nothing's gone wrong.
I've driven it every where, from Northern Virginia into downtown D.C. and from Maine to Florida. I'd say 2/3 of my total mileage has been city driving

Let's keep this with the appropriate years of trucks for this forum which is the 3rd gen 4Runners and last gen Tacomas or it'll get confusing including other gens since the original poster probably needs info on the specific auto trannys.

Mine is young at only 147k and had it's fluids changed every 30k miles and has had Redline synthetic in it since 100k miles and no problems.

I do drive mine a bit hard and it goes off road 7-12 times a year.

As of 3/25/09:

Mine - '02 4Runner 4wd, V6, auto, 77k on original tranny. Regular maint done and still runs like new. (which it should w/ only 77k on it. Plus I don't drive like a bat out of hell.) I drive 80% freeway and avg 22K miles a year. I don't abuse it offroad either. Amsoil fluid has been in since 50K.

Wife - '00 4Runner 2wd, V6, auto, 110K on original tranny. Regular maint done and still runs like new. (She's even easier on her 4Runner than I am on mine...thus her's should last forever.) She drives 50% freeway and avgs about 12K miles a year. Amsoil fluid has been in since 70K.

Buddy - '98 4Runner 2wd, V6, auto, 240K on original tranny. No maint done and still runs like somewhat new. (We're all making bets on when it will go...thus far, he's winning.) He drives 80% freeway and avgs 28K miles a year. No clue what fluid he's running.

I bought one with 160k miles on it and it was totally disfunctional.

I recently changed the oil in another one at 160k and it was clean and runs without a problem.

have a 98 Limited 4x4 4runner and had a supercharger on around 80,000 miles until about 150,000 when I had it removed and back to stock, with no maintenance after the SC install and that was in 2002. I have done the regular oil changes and just last week changed the spark plugs. I am not certain but I think I had a timing belt replacement before the SC and it's now over 100K miles and scared to death that it may break sometime soon. Don't have the funds to get it done. I now have 188K miles. Runs good but I wouldn't say it's in tip top shape.

I have a 96 Limited 4x4 with 3.4L and Auto Tranny with 120,900 miles...auto trans seems to be running fine! I've only owned it for 6,000 miles so I haven't done any maintenence on the trans yet, but the fluid looks nice and clear (previous owner had all service records from local toyota dealership). Hopefully I'll have many good years left out of it.

90k w/added cooler. All I've done is follow routine maintainence every 30k; the fluid always looks and smells like new.

97 runner with 224K miles and only done the fluid etc. I'm changing the filter and pan gasket this weekend. Then it's going in for a flush. Hopefully I'll get another 100K out of it. Shifts perfectly

2002 4runner, just did 60K flush, old oil didn't look so good.
I frequently have a noticable shift from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 1st; I doesn't seem as smooth as it should be. All other shifts are fine.
