2000 4Runner 3.4L. Tranny flushed once at 103K miles. Now it has 118K miles and is running strong. I bought the 4R at 103K miles and I have no idea what the previous owners maintanance schedule included.

More information: I recently bipassed the factory tranny cooler for an aftermarket unit. 95% of my miles are 70-80 mph highway driving, but I also do some light to medium duty towing (under 2000lbs) around town. I'll be interested to see how the fluid looks at my next change.

I'm not sure if the 25K mile recommended tranny maintainance is for a full flush or just fluid change. Anyone recall?

Bought mine in Sept. of 2007. Now have almost 230,000 miles on it. Shifts fine most of the time. It's a little sloppy now and then.

Don't know about previous owner(s), but I'd say it has had no work done on it.

I have a 95 4runner SR5 v-6 automatic 4x4 chain drive t-case A340H....I have currently almost 180,000 miles on the transmission and have done the fluid and filter change twice sense I have owned it(purchased July 1st 08).I think I'm having problems with it though but it's still putting around.I just use it for my DD and haven't taken it off road yet because it may break down, but I'm hoping to go off road at some point in time

162K miles.

2000 4WD 4R Limited, supercharger, cooler, regularly scheduled for first 30K.

4 quarts of Mobil1 changed every 15K-18K since 30K. Always looks new when drained.

The last 4+ years have been in CO at 8K feet and beyond. It's taken a toll but it's to be expected. It's doesn't act perfect from 1st to 2nd. It's become a little slower at low RPM. Actually the entire car works better when accelerating to 3K+ RPM in 1st and 2nd.

1996 4runner V6 4WD with 225k miles

2nd owner (for the last 105k miles)

Drive hard, 90% highway at approx 70-80mph

Offroad about once a month. I used full synthetic everything.

**Started missing 1st to 2nd about 10k miles ago, but was a quart low. Problem was solved when I added fluid**

Fluid seemed a little dark when I changed the filter and 5 quarts of fluid yesterday

Changed tranny filter at 150k miles and 225k miles and will do it at 300k!! if i make it there..

I have 2001 Taco V6 4x4 auto trans has 200,100. Runs perfect I purchased it used w/ 165,000. It runs like the day I purchased it. I had a local Toyota dealer flush the trans about 2yrs ago. I am getting ready to do service it my self w/ in the next week. I will probably buy the trans fluid at the dealer as the auto part all sell some dex/merc blend.

86 22r-tec 4x4

291,000 on my A340F in an 86 22r-tec 4x4. I purchased the truck two years ago, knowing nothing about the service history with the exception of a -ton of brake check/inspections. I have only put about 600 miles on it since i got it because i have been modifying some things.
The only problem I am having is, It seems to shift way too early, and will not kickdown based on throttle position in any gear. I have to turn the O/D OFF in order for it to drop to 3rd on the highway. Any Ideas?

He's referring to my post to keep the thread relevant with just 3rd gen 4Runners since this is a specific forum and too many posts were coming from other members with other gens of trucks which use different trannys.

Don't understand why 1st and 2nd Gen 4Runner owners post here (not that I care at all, but just curious), but my 01 Tacoma has 126k miles. Flush done at Toyota at 105k miles. Did notice better shifts after the flush. Still going strong. Keep dreading the day my planetary gear explodes.

1997 SR5, I got the truck at 110,000 after I’d crashed my 98. Tranny original. It now has 214,000 on it. Fluid changed a regular intervals, but nothing else.

During the past 104 thousand that I’ve put on it at least 45,000 of that has been on gravel roads and another 15,000 in sandy conditions and the rest on pavement.
