9am: Wake up, look at phone..One missed call, check VM, have message from buddy says to wake up we're goin wheelin. Cool, get dressed, drag the lady out of bed and head out.

11am: Arrive at the sugarloaf mountain/sycamore creek area. Play around in the water/rocks for a couple hours.

1pm: Arrive at butcher jones. Play around for another couple hours, chill by the water for a little bit then head out.

On the way out of butcher jones, you have to go up some hills that are moderate in difficulty, but normally shouldn't be a problem. Lucky for me, I have busted ass street tires and the terrain is soft/loose sand, with lots of ruts.

I had to make a few attempts on the hill to get out..Getting frustrated, I go balls out hoping to make it up. 4low, 6k rpms, bouncing around hoping the tires would grab onto anything at all. No dice. Stop about half way up the hill and notice my temp. climbing to around 210..To most people that doesn't sound bad, but I have never seen my temp above 190 so I knew something was up...I reverse down the hill..Pop the hood and theres some smelly green stuff spraying all over the place

"Fantastic"...Kill the truck, let it cool off for a few..Restart, head back up the hill, get to that half way spot that I can't seem to get past, then have my buddy who drives the xj (who also climbed up this hill and made it look easy) hook up the tow ropes to me and come far enough down the face of the hill so he could attach them to him..Between me in 4low giving it hell and him pulling me up in reverse, I finally got up that damn hill and got home. Coolant spraying turns out to be coming from the temperature gauge sending unit which I thought was weird, but it was enough to drain the radiator by the time we got out to the parking lot. Filled up with water, and headed home.

Cliffs: Got rescued by a jeep that pulled me up a hill I couldn't get up in reverse.

Unfortunately, out of all the pictures, I don't have any of the rescue shenanigans...Maybe it's for the best, pics or it didn't happen, right?

I. Want. That. International. Haha, looks like fun! I unfortunately can't wheel with mine yet...(long pause) Sorry, just shedding a tear... I need to redo the fuel system first. Temp gauge sensor isn't too bad though, lucky for you.

Shes always goes with me, she loves wheelin..My buddies jeep, actually used to be hers, we sold it to him about 6mths ago.

 

Nice! Who's toyota with no front clip? Looks sweet though. I'm not much of a Heep fan though.

Yea, that thing was pretty cool but it's been there for a long ass time, it's been shot up, lit on fire etc...There's no saving it.

 

Sometimes I think the same thing about my 22r engine. Then out of nowhere it pulls a miracle out of its tailpipe.

I just moved out to Tempe a couple months ago. So far I've been up through Four Peaks (east side where the mine trails are, forget the name) and around agua caliente.

If you go out wheeling one of these weekends send me a PM, been looking for people with trucks to wheel with around my school but haven't found anyone yet.

 

grab that gun rack and 5th wheel hitch surprising nobody has yet if it's been there as long as you say it has.

 

Damn. The way I like IH vehicles I probably would have stopped and spent the better part of a day trying to get it to fire up. Looks to be a 304 or 345 under the hood, high nickle content block, low end grunt, looks to be a 2 wheel drive with the DANA 44 rear. If it's a standard tranny it should have the T-19 close ratio (6.32:1) first gear....... man those things are tough.

*sigh* I miss my International.

I to am surprised that international was still pretty much intact, Motor wasnt missing anything except air filter , I think.

Has to be stolen (KIds Joyriding), I dont think anybody would just leave it there.
