can I paint my leaf springs???

im doing a 3" trail gear sas and wanted to engine paint my knuckles & springs red to match the body. Im worried that the flex of the springs would crack the paint off though... what do you think?

without a doubt, yes the paint will crack and flake off, unless you used maybe some rubberized undercoating type paint, but that might prove hard to find in red...

there's an option as well...

but why the springs? are they really that much of an eye-sore? a little contrast helps sometimes

personally, if everything were red, I don't think it would look too hot... there's gotta be something in there breaking up the colors

but that's just my opinion

yeah, kinda turns into a mallcrawler. just paint your axle and shackles and call it a day.

no, they look fine, as they are new, just seemed like red springs on the black axle would look sick with the red body...or not. lol.

im really color blind. I used to wear pink all the time thinking it was red...ya...super cool.

I do think red would be cool on the springs...but not really that worried about the pretty paint that much, just thinking about it since im dialing everything else in.

you could, dont get me wrong. Just get something that is rubberized, kinda like roll on bed liner. You could por-15 it and put some red dye in

or, you could just get some vinyl paint...
the kind of paint they use on T-Shirts...
it must flex pretty good to hold up to washings and whatnot...

i would use just cheap rattle can red. it is not going to be the most durable but it is laquer based so it doesn't ever really harden. it might be flexible enough and easy enough to touch up if not. the main problem wont be so much from the spring flex as from getting beat to death from the rocks and sand off the road.

From: Cincinnati, Ohio - Amelia is the exact place. There is no one else on this site from where I am. Seems like everyone is from Cali or Washington. I guess I need to move.
A buddy of mine that owns a body shop had a guy come in that wanted the walls of his tires clear coated so he wouldn’t have to buy tire shine any more. There are some things I don’t think you should paint suspension and tires being two of them.

that's pretty much what I was thinking

hell you can chrome them and really make them bling, and it'll look ghetto-fabulous till you put the weight of the truck on the springs, and the chrome cracks and all flakes off, lol
