Blackstone Laboratories & my new 97 T4R

I lot of you already know I just bought a 97 T4R 4x4. But, I just wanted to post up after my first oil change. Due to everyone's input on here I decided to have it analyzed by blackstone laboratories to see how good a shape this truck was in.

I am very pleased, the truck now has 145,000+ miles on it and the oil was run for 3400mi.

EDIT: The pic didn't show up as clear as I'd like maybe someone will have some suggestions.
I tried to attach it as a PDF, but the file was too large so I converted in to a png file, but now
its hard to read

That image looks clear to me. So what does all this data mean? Is it results from an analyzed oil sample? Thanks for sharing.

Yep, just bragging on the good condition of my runner
Gives me good piece of mind to know I got a good deal, on a good cond. (inside and out) truck

A few more miles and I'll be getting the taco tested for the first time as well.

oil analysis has nothing whatsoever on how the truck's condition. Only the oils condition. Big misconception.

And any oil run only 3400 miles SHOULD look good.

I'm going to disagree with that statemant. So you're saying if the oil had antifreeze in it that's no sign of a engine problem?

They also check for gasket material, metal shavings, sludge, coolant, and moisture.
Most other components are easily checked for wear externally, which I have done. Its just good to have a check on the inside to see how everythings holding up. Since I really don't know another way to check engine condition other than compression test.

To add to that, comparing 2 oil analyses at a specified interval would be even more revealing as to the engine/oil condition.

Im gonna disagree with the first statement as well. You can learn a lot from an oil analysis, e.g. dirt ingestion through an air leak in the intake, head or intake gaskets leaking, leaking fuel injetors, etc. There is plenty of information to be had besides the oil's condition.

If it were my wehicle I would probably run a 5000 mile interval on the same oil and sample again

I don't really know since I didn't do the previous oil change. The analysis said 5w30, but I don't know the brand

MT Goat beat me to it but $22.50 and then it cost me less than $2 to ship the sample back.

Took em a while to get the kit to me, but only a week to get the results via email.
