Timing chain question 82 22r

Ok so I am beyond confused with my engine at this point. Basically I am starting to think that timing chain is off by 1 gear, but when I pulled the valve cover there isnt any marks on the timing chain. There is of course the mark on gear. I remembered when I put the head back on I more or less guessed since I never removed the timing chain cover. Anyhow the timing chain does say JAPAN on almost all links and there is 2 links which happen to line up with mark that say 068 which to me indicates that the gear mark should be inbetween those to 068 links. If so then my chain is set right. If worse comes to worse im yanking the front of my engine off and double checking the crank mark. Just more work I dont want to do. Btw the timing chain isnt factory since the timing chain guides are the steel ones.

Use the mark on the crank pulley it should be at 0 deg it should line up at 12:00 on the cam gear it will be at tdc when you do this

If I have to tear down the motor to see the crank mark then I mind as well tear the whole thing down and weight for money to get the machine work done. I am heading out in a min to go pick up a complete 22r. Not sure how I am gonna tell if its good or not. Well see what she looks like. Then I might not even deal with this engine.
