anyone thought about putting in a 3sgte motor if possible?

so i dont know to much about these trucks, but it does seem that a lot of toyota engines and tranny's seem to be at least moderately interchangeable. i knew one guy that put a late supra motor in place of a 22re and ran 9's or 10's in the quarter. granted that was a complete custom fabricated set up, but i was just thinking about the 3sgte engine... it came in the 2nd gen mr2's and the celica alltrac. in the celica it was an awd setup...

what im getting at is has anyone thought about mating the 3sgte with a transmission from our trucks? or maybe even just taking out the engine and tranny from an alltrac and putting it in the truck? you can get ridiculous power gains from the 3sgte engine with minimal amount of work and on a stock block. so im curious on if anyone has thought about this option?

just just thinking about this for some odd reason while im sobering up from the night before haha. interested to see peoples reasoning or opinions on this.

the 3sgte isnt real torquey but you can rev the crap out of it. it might work but i think the 7mgte would be a better swap because it has more torque.

The 3SGTE is a transverse mount engine, and it sits at anangle to boot. If you could even figure out a way to mount it, you would then have a major issue with the intake.

It really isn't a feasible swap into a conventional drivetrain vehicle.

All-Trac celicas are very rare and very expensive. Most people who have them know what they have, and the few who don't are impossible to find. Cheap cars can be had, but they are always driven by Douchenozzles who beat the heck out of them.

It would be like finding a 95 MR2 Turbo hardtop.

i dont know how much of an issue the angle the engine is mounted presents but i do know that there are a few people that have put a 3sgte in the ma70 supras. if they can mount it in a supra they can mount it in a 4runner.
the 7mgte has more torque but the 3sgte is much lighter and there is a lot of aftermarket support for it. the more i think about it, the more i like it. i already know a ton about these engines too.

i wouldnt say they are very expensive. i guess it depends on definition of expensive. it is getting harder to find a really clean one that is bone stock though.

mine is both clean and stock
but sadly i cant afford to keep it. the maintenance is creeping up on me.

Got any pics? I am kind looking to thin down the herd though. 3 cars and 2 bikes is too much for a poor college student.

4A-GE? arent we getting a little small there?
I still think if I where to do any swap it would be the 7mgte.
Plenty of them around. Parts are available. And I kinda want an I6
There is no replacement for displacement
