Runs rough and advice on gauges

Anyway, my 86 Toyota pickup is running pretty rough. It is hard to stay going 25mph and frankly 3rd gear is useless. Its been sitting for over 4 years (tags say '01!!!) and has problems. What should I do first? I've replaced gas, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil, filter, and antifreeze.

Also, non of my gauges work. My temp gauge doesn't move. My gas gauge doesn't move. And I don't have a tach. So, is it easier to just replace the gauges or try to figure them out or just go with aftermarket gauges?

Thanks, I'm so glad this truck is running again!

i DEFINETLY recommend a compression test on all 4 to even see if the motor is good. next make sure you are getting good fuel pressure (now just cuz it runs doesnt mean its good i had this happen to me like you described and it ended up bein the fuel pump cuz it would run but get no where) and finally make sure you have good not weak spark and you atually have some timing.

That covers the essentials: fuel, spark, compression. Then if all those are attained you she atleast have a useable engine. (definition of ueseable engine: one that goes over 65 and idles
