Question for the troubleshooting guru's
When I had a 3.slow in my truck it would occasionally die on startup. Usually only when it was cold but once when it wasn't. After it died it would always fire right back up and run fine. Sometimes the problem would go away for months. Usually i the summer it was fine.
On one 500mi trip in the winter it shut itself off 8 times on the highway, again it started right back up everytime. It would throw igntion related codes. 14 (igniter) etc.
I drove myself nuts trying to solve this. I finally gave up since I was doing a 3.4 swap anyway. I figured that would solve it.
Sooooooo.... the 3.slow is gone AND the EXACT same condition is present.
So my question is:
What could cause a code p1300 (3.4 OBDII now) that isn't related to the engine or the ECM because all that has been CHANGED?
Any ideas? Thanks.

The igniter gets changed with the swap. EVERYTHING ignition related to the 3.0 is GONE and replaced with the 3.4 stuff.
I don't think it is anything under the hood of the truck. Think firewall back with the exception of the ECM. Thanks. MAybe fuel system??

P1300 is igniter circuit malfunction: no IGF signal to ECU for 6 consecutive IGT attempts while engine is running.
I might say check the condition of, or add to, the engine and igniter module grounds- if the engine grounding is intermittent, cylinders will misfire and the result would be no IGF signals.

Thanks, all the grounds are fine. They were all redone when the 3.0 was in and again they were all redone when the 3.4 swap was performed. Everything is definitely grounded. Checked and double checked.
I really don't think this is the igniter. I think it is something else that is causing it to throw an igniter code. Any more ideas? Worn out ignition/key cylinder. What do you think? I tried wiggling the key around but that didn't cause it. It is really wierd that it seems to be temp. related as well.
