Why don't you try gearing it? Not saying it couldn't be done, but 5.29's and a locker would probably be cheaper.

I agree

Ive installed after market turbos in MX5s and its not as easy as slapping one in, with all the electronics and fuel issues, let alone the dual exhaust set up it would be a lot of fabbing or a twin turbo set up, probaly not worth it but then again anything is possible!

slapping a turbo on a turd of an engine still makes it a turd engin, if u want turbo v6 power, get a 4.3 chevy out of a syclone

go over to pirate and search on their forums...

there is a guy who took a buick Grand national turbo setup and plopped it down onto his 3.0... ran up to 12 lbs of boost with stock internals and stock bottom end... so, its feasable... just do some searching...

Just so you know, after the turbo fabrication you will need a custom tune for it to run correctly if that is even possible on that ECU. It can be done & would be very neat but gears may be a better bet for your situation. I have had turbo engines running 20 lbs of boost without any issues, but they were "turbo engines" to start with. forged pistons & a strong bottom end with the proper tuning to match.

If you had the 22RE I would say GO FOR IT! Many years ago (1990's) a guy here in Vegas named Dana Westover had at the time the worlds fastest Toyota P/U. 22RE with a custom turbo set up running consistent 12 second passes. Now he has one of the world's fastest street legal Supra's. He knows his Toyota's & turbos.

If you do it, you difinitely should use a bigger turbo like a ct26 or a t3. A ct20 won't perform like you would like with the motor work you have done. T3's are much more common and alot cheaper to rebuild

There are other options out there for fuel managment such as "5th" injector
for us it would be a "7th" or actually "8th " injector if you count cold start.

Another very viable option is the rate of rise FPR I have used these at my previous job, we built volkswagen turbo systems to 340whp utilizing this method.'
And since our ignition timing can be set manually You could tune with the rate of rise and timing retard for low boost no problem.

I have a 5 spd and was wondering about the lag or boost control at shifting points. or do you start out in second gear?...lol...geez man I would LOVE to do that to my 3.0!

Well if you are looking for more low end power then super charge your engine. A turbo will not give you a lot of low end power. They need to spool up before the become efficient. Just my 2 cents.
