Anyone know where I can buy one of these or better yet have one for sale? I want to keep my stock bumper for now but have a winch I use for light wheeling and for my snow plow. Let me know....thanks!

I've seen the addicted offroad bumpers, they are awesome, but I am looking for something to mount a winch on while still using my stock bumper. Eventually I may upgrade...any other suggestions?

I had the same problem not too long ago. I liked the Warn version, shown below, known as the Warn Combo Kit. I had to buy mine used, as they stopped making these a few years back. It has been replaced by the Trans4mer, however they don't directly support the Trans4mer for our vehicle. You could probably build your own brackets for the Trans4mer.



The winch product number was 19730 and used to cost about $250 or $300 CDN new. The hardware specific to your vehicle came separate. In your case the appropriate product number was 24994. Here is an old site with some of the information still posted.

Here is a picture of it without the light bars off. They just bolt onto the supports, so you can go with or without. This guy had a lift, so it's a bit low.


I bought mine used with a different years hardware, and with a bit of thinking was able to make it work stock. It did stick out a bit too much from the truck for my liking. Also, it tends to sit a little too low, IMHO. The top bar cut the lights off just a bit, and the bottom bar sat quite a bit under the lights. As you can see form the top picture this is how they designed it. I've changed the top bracket mounting point and designed new bottom brackets which will also accommodate a future body lift.

Here's what it looked like with the stock brackets. The light brackets are modifications I made.


'Til I get the new brackets it's just going to sit in my apartment.


If you pick one of these up give me a shout, and I'll send you the info on how I modified the top bracket and the design for the bottom. If I haven't already posted the full write up, that is. Also, if you're pretty good at fabricating, this is a pretty simple design, and I could easily send you a copy of the instructions and a bunch of measurements to get you on your way.

For the record, I looked long and hard for one like this new. I was quite thorough; doesn't mean there isn't one out there, but I couldn't find it. Some look similar, but don't have the winch support or can handle the pull. There seem to be more items available for the early Tacomas. Again with the modifications, but with time and tools ...

 

You could also go with the basic trail gear winch plate

I like the trail gear plate as well, looks pretty strong and I think easy to build off of. i presume the lower valance of bumper has to come off for that to work?

 

Probably. I took mine off because it was beginning to be a hazard. I'm going to go with Addicted's winch bumper here soon.

Also with the trailgear plate, it looks like there may not be enough room to put a winch on with the standard bumper still on? Anyone know?

 

Pretty sure the OEM bumper has to be removed because the plate uses the bumper mounts...

 

You could probably keep the oem bumper if you didnt mind cutting it a little
