I was wondering if the 84 repair manual for toyota pickups would work when i rebuild my 86 22R's carb and if not is there anyone that would be able to tell me how to rebuild the carb?

 

Umm...did you look through the 84-85 section?? There might be something in there...

 

i was wondering what the difference there is between the 84 22r and the 86 22r and if there really is a difference im looking at rebuilding my carb and was wondering if the 84 book would work because i already own one

 

there are differences between carbs of the same year much like carbs of different years. I've even seen a difference between two 88's in California.

anyhow, if you bought the kit for your 86 it should come with the parts blow-up and show where everything goes. So clean and go. Make note of things as you take them out and lay out your new parts similarly so you can put the new ones in the correct place. If the kit came with a part you didn't take off yours, likely it's not a part you need.

It's really not that hard. Carb's are not majical beasts with incomprehensible functions.

 

Thanks for the insight! I have to wait till March to do it but would it help with gas mileage and also it idles a little rough and i was wondering if this could be the reason and would it be a good idea to switch out the vacuum lines at the same time just for fun

 

if you have 2 days to spare, pull the carb and spray carb cleaner in every hole you see, the flip the carb over and spray again, so on and so forth, rotating the carb around so thing drain every way they can. Spray cleaner and wait 30 minutes, rotate and spray again, ad nauseum.

Unfortunately, you didn't say why you think the carb needs rebuilt (or maybe you did in another thread but I have ADD.. or is the CRT (can't remember threads)?

 

this should help. download the fsm and print off the section on carburetors that's all you'l need to know
