Look what i got today!

this just arrived on my doorstep!!


i had no idea what it was until i opened it...
i didnt order anyting from trail gear, did i??



well, not anything made by trail gear, just the box, but a cool surprise anyways!! my new to me, but heavily used Downey IFS Truss




yea, its a lil beat up, but sone grinding and some paint and it will look as good as new...
and cant beat the price either!!

lol. before I read the captions, I thought you got that brand new. I was thinking maybe it was some new style. Made to look like it has already been used. Kind of like pre-torn jeans....

There are two things about the Downey truss I'm not so keen about.
  1. it doesn't run parallel to the front crossmember, so you can't make a skid plate out of a flat square piece of steel without making some weird twists and bends in it first
  2. it doesn't appear to be too beefy, less so than the front crossmember and t-case crossmember. I've seen some pictures of one that was bent up like a like a cardboard tube. I think its made for desert racing, where impacts directly against the crossmember are rare. If it bends, then it pulls the two rear LCA horn together and screws up the alignment it was designed to protect


That said, its better than nothing at all!

i know that its not Snoring Steel, but like matt said, at least its something...
now i just gotta grind it smooth and paint it and it will look like new...
