Fixing a Rust Spot

i have a small rust spot where the paint has chipped on my 03, i want to fix it before it starts to spread

I was gonna buy this:

http://www.cspoutdoors.com/spspgun.html

then tape off a square around it, sand it down to bare metal, then spray about 3 coats of primer, then 3 coats of paint, then 3 coats of clear coat

is that basically the best way to go about doing this?

how can i go about getting the closest match for the paint?

here are some picks of the spot, it is right on the corner of the cab

any ideas?

OH BTW get some 320 grit sand paper, some newspaper, and some 2" maskin tape, tape the spot off just barely around the edges, and rough it up with the sandpaper till most of the rust comes off, then clean the spot with denatured alcahol, after that prime it with a good rust proofing primer, like krylon and go to autozone and get yourself some silver paint thats close to that, paint it with that, with two light coats, then clear it with some rattle can clear, and wait about two days for it to harden up and clay bar the spot and buff it until its almost flat, should look aight, total cost will be about 20$

You might try the Duplicolor rattle cans found at Vatozone, etc. I found one that matched my paint number on my 2000 Tundra. It was an excellent match, and I painted an area much larger than you are looking at.

I admittedly didn't take any close up, because the repair was not perfect. That was more an effect of my poor body work skills than the paint matching. In my opinion, the paint looked remarkably good, for a rattle can.
