Well....vehicle inspections at my work are over looking my 4Runner cause I have JDM tail-lights which are clear. I have found some interesting set's online that look legit but not sure if they will fit a 2000. Is there a difference in 01-02 tail-lights ?

 

Yes, they will fit but you have to do some splicing for the reverse light. Some have changed out the wiring harness and some have just spliced the reverse light. The reason being is that the 01-02 tail lights use a smaller bulb. There are some info here:

I have the 01-02's in mine(97) the light sockets will phisically not fit from the old to new tail housings...I replaced the pigtail harnesses w/dealer parts.I got my tails so cheap,the total swap $ wise was worth it..since the previous owner managed to crack both rears.I was replacing anyway,its a nice upgrade.

 

Yea, I bought the wiring harness from a yotatech member.
So whenever I get around to getting the tail lights, I will make the change.
By the way, was your tail lights OEM?

 

they fit on my 98 but ill have to make the wiring harness work since they didn't come with it but hey i only paid $45 dollars for the set

 

As an update, you don't need to do the splicing anymore. I now include the full wiring harnesses, so it's all plug& play now. Also, be sure to check out the new LED version on the site!
