Whats safe

My 84 pickup has an efi conversion i just got it running and was driving it back from the muffler shop and noticed it runs right at 180 degrees is this normal for a 22re or should it be lower? I should mention it has a brand new radiator and waterpump.

180 is right when the thermostat kicks in.
Normally 190 is about what they should run (From what I've read)

180 is fine

to a point, a warmer engine is more efficient. I typically run my rigs in the 195-205 range.

standard thermostat is 180, which fits right in with your readings.
