removing A/C belt

hello all!

i had a little ooops in my truck and now there is no freon in the A/C system anymore (sorry ozone ). this does not bother me in the least since i was planning on removing the air conditioning anyways. I have been doing a lot of research on Pirate4x4 about turning my A/C pump into an air compressor for OBA.

i'm not really at a point where i can tackle this project with school and all, so my question is: Can I remove the compressor belt (as to not freeze up the pump so that i can use it later) without interfering with any other features?

Can't find anything in searches or the FSM that lead to me thinking that this would be a problem...but then again i've never worked with an A/C system so i'm just looking for a more "seasoned " opinion.

Thanks so much for any help! I NEED TO GET THIS PIECE BACK ON THE TRAILS!!! I CAN'T MISS SNOW SEASON!!!

-Andrew

If you are going to be removing it anyways, just take a pair of cutters and cut the belt off. Viola!

hey DC,
i'm not going to be removing the compressor, i'll be reusing it for OBA (on board air) (i'm sure you knew that lol). is the air conditioning the only thing that uses that compressor?

sweet that's a really nice setup! i don't think i'll do it that nice...also, i was thinking about trying to wire it so that i can use my A/C button as an "Air Compressor" button....thought that'd be cleaver think it's doable?
