Changing plugs and wires on '00 4Runner Sr5?
I've had my 4Runner about 55K miles and have not changed the plugs or wires yet. I know...stupid me...bad bad! I've noticed recently at idle it slightly rough so thought it might be time to get the plugs and wires changed out. I am stilling getting 19mpg town and about 22hwy.
How big of a project is it to change these items out?
Not sure what type of plugs are in it now.
Thanks,
Mike

I just did the same job on mine last week
I used Bob's writeup on 4runner.org. Check out his site. He pretty much has every basic maintaince operation for our trucks photo documented and well explained. Here's his section on plugs:

I used the oem NKG plugs, and oem toyota wires from the dealer. It took about 60 minutes to do the plugs/wires. The oem wires were cake to route and install (unlike some aftermarket wires I've tried). While I had the intake assembly off, I also cleaned the MAF and TB. That took maybe 15 minutes.

Use OEM is always a safe bet.
Log-on to www.1sttoyotaparts.com and input your year and model, under electrical, click "replacement parts" Go button, under electrical, ignition system, spark plugs.

I did it for the first time by myself last weekend. Took me about 1.5 hours start to finish by following the writeup in the maintenance section. I wish I had seen that 4runners.org link before hand, it looks simpler than the one I followed.
