So I replaced the module that has the turn signal and wiper handles on it out of another rig the other day because my hazard light switch was facing the wrong direction for the steering column cover I had for it. Anyways, everything worked just fine after hooking up the harnesses and all that. I had to unplug them in order to route the wires correctly and mount them under the column where they go. I had accidentally left the headlights on when I plugged the harness back in and I heard a pop. Now my cluster backlights do not work. I did check to verify that the bulbs work, and my turn signals work, and all the other idiot lights, just not the backlights. I have checked every fuse in the kickpanel and under the hood. Anything else I can check for this?

 

Did you check voltage coming out of the rheostat?

 

You mean the knob that turns the brightness up and down for the backlights right? Yes I have turned that up and down each time I check. Could it have blown?

 

Ok so it was the rheostat. I just put in a new dash and so I had another rheostat laying around, I popped it in there and it works. Thanks alot
