Advice on my current set up

Here's the story.

The reason I bought my 4runner were for the following reasons:

-Daily commuter to and from work 17 miles/day(But I use my motorcycle during the summer)
-Weekend trips to MI/WI once per month 250 miles or so.
-Weekend Wheeling from time to time.
-And my ultimate plan is to be able to take it to Colorado and Moab with some fellow wheelers on a little road trip.

So in my build I chose to go with the OME 881/906 Coils. At first glance after the install I did notice a slight lift coming from the taller 99 Coils but not much. What did make a huge difference was the ride, it stiffened up the suspension and got rid of my rear end sag.

The dilemna.

I WANT MORE LIFT!!! Seriously not too much more since I don't want to kill my MPG but maybe another 1/2 inch. I do plan on getting some 285's on but at the moment I'm running 265's.

I went with my current set up for the reason I stated above I needed something practical but at the same time had a little lift in it. After researching it looks like I have a couple options and here's where I need your advice now that you know what I use my rig for.

Option A: Scrap the 906 Coils and get the 890 as well as a 5mm trim packer for the front.

Option B: Get spacers all around

Option C: Stay with what I have

What do you guys think?????

Spacers perhaps? Since you already bought the coils.
Maybe someone else would have some better advice

I am running the same set up on my 02 sport. I love it, but at the same time lift is like a drug and i want more. I agree with Lance and would suggest looking into the SS kits.

So you would completely ignore the fact that you spent $600 on a perfectly good set up and spend another $1200 for a completely different set up?

i would stay with what you got and do a body lift if the tires rub.. youll be fine on the trail with a locked rear and some good tires!! spend the cash on armor or a winch

I would switch to 890's or 891's, I love my 891's they flex really good and can handle the weight i carry.

If it's a "perfectly good set up" then why are you looking at other lift options? It was a suggestion only...take it or leave it.

And yes...I have completely swapped out my suspension to try something new. Why? Because the old system did not work for me anymore.

Point taken sliders and bumpers coming next summer.

I think the 890's are probably my best option. You don't think the 891's provide a rough ride on the road?

It's a good set up for my use meaning I like it's on and off-road manners. I just want a slight bit more lift and wanted to spend a reasonable amount getting it. I have talked to Sonoran Steel and if I still have the 4runner in a few years after I've gotten some use outta of these OME I would consider upgrading to their suspension.

I appreciate your suggestion and I do think their lift system is the best out there for the 4runner but you $$$$ for it. I just wanted to know if you really thought that was a good idea for my purposes to spend that kinda of money on a suspension.

On one hand, you're not satisfied with your current setup, on the other, you still want to get some use out of these OMEs. I'd say C. Stay with current setup, and save the $$$$ for 7.2 in the future.

i agree with big t for sure, but do wut makes you happy..depends on wut the
amount of use you will suck out of yer set-up is.whatever set-up u use, or wanna use, the most and enjoy the most then gear your cash towards that in the most efficient way possible...hucking one whole [expensive] system for another whole [expensive] system isnt efficient..imo

Phrased that way and after re-reading your original post, I would probably say no. But be warned, once you start wheeling your 4Runner a bit harder you might find your timeline for a different, more capable suspension moving up...that's what happened to me.

Cheers.

This is why I love this site you guys call me out on my bs and make me look like a little girl that can't make up her mind.

I just want a little more lift can someone suggest something without swapping out the entire system? Maybe someone has added 10mm spacers to the rear and the 5mm trim packer to the front? Would that work?

I know that will happen and I'm thinking once I move myself out to CO I will upgrade to the 7.2

From what I have read and heard you will need at least 3" of lift and different offset wheels or spacers to run 285's on your 4Runner when offroad. 285's rub on the upper control arm at droop so you have to push the whhels out but then they rub on the fender.
