Thorley Header Install

Got a new set of Thorley headers from Summit (500 bucks). Getting the old manifolds and cross over pipe out was the most difficult part of the project, I had to cut the flanges off the crossover pipe to get it out. Once the manifolds were out I took the original studs out of the heads and slid the new headers in the holes. They slid in fairly easy, the passenger side needed the coiled lines down against the firewall pushed to the right side of the vehicle a bit. Once they were in place I slid the gaskets in and started all the bolts. The instructions say to torque them to 35 ft. lbs. but I dont think you could get a torque wrench on all of them if the engine was out on a stand. The bottom bolts below the back cylinders on both sides was a pain in the a$$. There is a Y-pipe that comes with the headers that is in 3 pieces and then the pipe where they hook together. This set up fit together real well got it all assembled and slid into place and clamped together. I need to go and get a chunk of exhaust pipe and a new muffler tomorrow. I removed the cat and need to replace that. All in all it was fairly easy and I am real pleased with the fit of everything.

congratulations on your new thorley headers!! they are so nice, best 3vze headers in my opinion.
did you get ceramic? Any troubles getting the EGR valve to fit? You will now have so much more head gasket reliability having bypassed the crap stock manifold not to mention a lot more power in the mid-upper RPMs you are the first person I have heard to said that 3vze header install was "fairly easy" though!!

I like they way they fit and i have not put the egr valve on or the pair valve or whatever it is on yet. I am in the process of rebuilding the whole exhaust so I have to go and get some more pipe and a new muffler today.
