Newbie with 86 4runner, loving it so far!
Just bought an 86 4runner 3 days ago..Loving it so far..22re 5spd, 3" lift, newer tacoma wheels etc..Pretty much stock.
Paid 2200 for it, which including about 1500 in audio stuff (dvd player/tv/sub/amp) etc..Never really been into that stuff, but since it came with it I'm not complaining, it sounds nice.
When I bought it, I was told the starter was going out..Wasn't a big deal for me..A starter on these things is a 20 minute job.
Day after I bought it, replaced the starter..Still clicked..lol, great...Hopped on good ol' google and did some reading..Found out that it's a common problem on these things, so yesterday I went to autozone, bought a standard 50amp relay, some wire and hooked it up..works like a charm, fires up on the first crank and no more clicking!
There was also a folder in the glove box that was about an inch and a half thick..It had reciepts dating all the way back to 1986, including the original window sticker etc..It was pretty trippy, poor man's time machine right there.
Pictures aren't that great, haven't had a chance to take any decent ones, I'll try tomorrow.

Sorry about the girlfriend in the way, lol.

Good find sell the radio stuff and buy some sliders and a locker. If you leave the radio stuff in there someone will take the whole truck. They are kind of easy to steal. The rear side windows don't offer much protection from knowledgeable thieves. just my .02

The lift is nothing more than 3" blocks in the rear and the torsion bars cranked in the front...I'm not too big on the blocks, they'll probably get ditched and replaced with an add-a leaf.
Plans are to keep it pretty mild, it is my daily driver..For now anyways. Plan on cleaning up the interior, ditching the blocks, replacing the shocks, want to pick up an optima battery..A little bit of armor to save the nice straight sheetmetal from the arizona rocks, better tires, I'm happy with the size, but they need more meat.
I really wish there was an easy, reliable way to get more power out of these things. I've owned V8s all my life, so this thing is incredibly slow, but it is what it is and I'm alright with it because overall I love the runner!
