New rims.. the good, the bad, the wasted $$

Well, I have them on.. Un-polished :pat: I spent about $75 for stuff to polish them, and close to $100 on a new Dremel tool kit.. and how did I end up finishing them off?? a $5.00 bottle of Eagle cast wheel cleaner..

I spend a day buffing one rim, trashed the buffing wheel, and when I was almost done, it looked like a crappy chrome rime with poor finish.. The rims have been wheeled and being so, they have some light rock rash here and there.. This made it look bad from a polished stand point.. But I ended up really liking the dull look, and it will be so easy to clean! They make my tires rub a bit now (they have about a 1 1/2" offset to the outside compared to stock) But a body lift already planed will cure that, but they do fit the truck better and fill the flares now..

So, what do ya all think??

Loooks decent, but my black steelies seem to polish up real well with a hose at the car wash!

Seriously though it looks decent for the time involved, I personally prefer steels for this reason.

Looks good Lee.
After your body lift, are you going with a new bumper up front?
It will look so bad ass with Mr. snorkel up there.

The ones I like besides my ARB is the Badland Bumpers one like Rob just put on his 1st gen.

Are just the front ones rubbing when you turn the wheels all the way?

Do you have disc brakes? If so, aren't you worried about them over-heating?

I do have disk brakes and I am not worried.. The 4Runner has more than enough brakes to keep from getting hot.. If they get real bad I will look at a small air scoop on the backing plate (most the air is grabed from those louvers back there anyway..) We shall see.

Flygtenstein, I have very little time in the way they look right now.. In fact, it was dang near a "spray on and hose off" I spend a day making them shine, and then took it back to where I started.. I am sick of painting my steel rims every time I wheel it.. I always take a ton of paint off them..

Corey.. Yes, bumpers are needed big time.. I am not sure about an ARB though.. they are $$ and freaking heavy.. I may get a tube set up made front and rear with some enclosing or what not..

Anyway I am really digging the look.

PS, Corey.. I think they have a little rub at full lock on the back of the front tires.. the rears are fine.

These rims were made for an FJ40, they fit fine, but the back spacing is off.

I don't mean trouble

Well I don't mean trouble here, but I was reminded of 18-wheeler wheels when I saw the pics. I like aluminum though.

You mean those mudflaps with the "Mudflap Girl" on them? LoL, my dad has those on his Chevy...LMAO.

It is so funny...

Sorry, that was probably dumb...but hey!!

NICE RIMS MAN!! I personally like the look of the Rock Crawlers myself...and honestly, I LOVE the look of the stock rims. I just need to find a good cleaner/polisher for them to REALLY make them stand out.

But see...the problem is, I live on a freakin DIRT ROAD so no matter what I do, they always get dirty!!

I HATE THE COUNTRY....sometimes.
