Does the front driveshaft turn when you put the transfer case in 4hi or 4lo? If not, you need to troubleshoot the transfer. If it does, then, you need to start with the hubs and work your way in to the third member.

Does it have locking hubs on the front, such as Warn or Aisin, or does it have the ADD system?

Or does it have both? To check for ADD, look at the front differential, there should be an actuator on the drivers side stub shaft, and some vacuum hoses comming out and going into the engine bay.

What kind of hubs do you have? Go and look on the hub dial, it should say...

Check it out tomorrow. If it does, there might be a problem with the actuator or vacuum hoses.

Does the 4wd light come on? Do you here a click when placed into 4wd?
Does it do anything different then your other rig?

If the light comes on i thought that meant the front shift tube is in the locked position. How does this guy know the 4wd doesn't work? If i were you i would jack up the front end and turn the truck on and put in 4wd, then turn one of the front wheels and see if the other one turns, this should also turn the driveshaft if it working

okay, well when i first got mine it didnt work either, i ended up throwing on some manual hubs, and messing with the vacuum lines in order to bypass the vsv switches for the A.D.D and locks the shift fork in place.

sorry, i cant post the link for some reason, search for it

"many many questions" Only a few days ago

well there are some pictures, you can only do this if you put manual hubs on. I would try diagnosing your problem unless you want to switch from A.D.D to manual

If you hear a "Click" should be from behind the dash, that means that the shift lever is engaging the ball switch in the trans case and activating the ADD relay. Which will in turn activate the VSS switches under the hood on the pass side. The light coming on the dash should only happen when the locking sleeve has moved over on the front axle putting the truck in 4x4, To me that would show that the add system is working correctly. If you can turn the front drive shaft with the truck in 4x4 and still on the ground my guess is you have issues with the Tcase internals.

Here is a great write up on the different systems used by Toyota found on the Offroad.com fourm. Also explains how to trouble shoot the add system. Found very helpful when geting mine fixed. Turned out to be a broken wire going from the tcase switch to the add relay behind the dash. Good luck!
