is it possible for a 22r to 22re swap?

i was wondering how hard this would be to do i really like me truck but its a 22r and i heard the 22re is pretty reliable as the 22r i just want a headache of a job i know this wouldnt be drop in or nothin since ones carbd and the other is fuel injected but does the cost outweigh the gains of doin a swap like this or would i be happier with an RE? thanks for the help Brian

I just typed in 22r to 22re swap in search, got 182 results, take a look around. it's been talked about before and you can find some good info.

Conversion to fuel injection on the same block and head would be more of a headache then just finding the parts and swaping the engines.
your gonna need an ecu, the block, i forget what else, but as stated just search, you'll find everything you need

Theres a little bit of wiring info if you search for EFI conversion.

The only hard part is finding the parts, heh. Especially the wiring harness. ECU's are everywhere. You'll also have some fun with the dash wiring and instrument cluster. Need EFI distributor as well.

It's definetly a YES to your question tho.

Whether or not its worth the headache... well I got most of the parts for a conversion right now but have decided to keep the carb and not do the conversion yet. I'll do it when the motor needs a rebuild. It just requires lots of patience and research and if you got a buddy with a 22RE in his rig, that'll make life a lot easier ! =) For reference.
