Motor Troubles... Please help me get back in my truck.
Hey guys, I have been out of the scene for like a year now. Mostly due to school and life but also the fact that my truck is dead. It's time to get her running again.
Background
Back in March of 07 my timming chain jumped a tooth and bent the valves. I then spent all last summer rebuilding the motor in my 3rd floor apartment. During the rebuild I installed the head gasket incorrectly(finiky bastards) and blew it this spring. So I ordered another kit from engnbldr and installed it again. Not too bad of a job.
Issue
When I got it back together the motor wouldn't idle. It wouldn't stay running with out giving it gas. So after alot of poking around and ensuring everything was together and searching the board, I thought it may be a timming issue. So I moved the chain a chink over and now it won't fire at all. I can go back in and move it back but I want some real diagnostic work to happen instead of this guess check stuff.
Where I'm at
So I check the compression and found 90 in 3 cyl and like 30 in the other. What do you guys think about those numbers? Is there any way to tell the timming chain is on correctly without taking off the whole cover? Any other diag trick I can try?
Thanks for you help. I'm tried of not wheeling anymore!

I would buy a master kit and put a new timming chain gasket in.I put a head gasket on my truck and ran it 5 miles just to take it back off to replace my timming chain gasket. now i have all new gaskets, and you could check the timming chain when the cover is off
