In NEW JERSEY: friend needs help reviving 85 runner
Hi all!
A really good friend of mine who lives up in New Jersey picked up an 85 runner recently that he's trying to bring back to life. But as he's getting into it, he's realizing the P.O. really beat the poor thing to death. (ex: he just pulled the main harness to eliminate some fried wiring because P.O. wired some sort of lighting accessory in with the ECU.) Every system seems hacked or abused in some way.
Anyway, he's running out of time trying to get this thing running again because he's closing on a house and he'll need these wheels to get to work from the new location.
If there's anyone in NEW JERSEY SHORE AREA who might be able to help with either spare parts access and/or mechanical assistance, it'd be nice to hear from you, maybe I can get him some help. He's about ready to call one of them mobile mechanics and they're usually a fortune and may not know much about a 23 year old Toy.
I dont' think he has internet access to get in here and find all this useful info, but he's definitely committed to make the truck come back to life. I wish I was closer so I could help him, so I thought to ask here. He's a good guy, straight up, I've known him almost 30yrs, and I feel real bad for him right now cuz I think he bit off more than he can chew with this rig, but then again, i will support anyone who wants to bring back a first gen runner.
Any takers or offers of useful advice? Please reply here or PM.
thanx everyone!
