86 power steering box adjustment screw

what does that screw do i understand what the nut is supposed to do but i dont get the what the scre does besides it leaks like pooop pooop if i take it out what in the heck will happen???? I know this is strange but this sucks its the power steering gear bpx adjusting srew how in the heck do you fix this

Screw sets the sector shaft bearing pre-load. Nut locks the screw in place and it is special in that it has a sealing ring under it. If the nut leaks, get a new one at the dealer. I run my box with the screw as snug as I can get it by hand.
