Well a couple weeks ago I got all the parts I needed for my 5 speed swap and the engine I bought off TTORA showed up and turned out to be a complete piece of crap. I was pissed because it was a waste of money and didn't fit the description. I'm glad I didn't pay very much money for it. Today I just said screw it and spent every last penny I had on a rebuilt engine so in the next couple weeks or so I will have my rust free 4Runner back with a 5 speed manual and a brand new engine. I had to tell someone because the excitement was killing me

 

Any amount of money on a piece of crap is too much money for me! Ugh....hate it for you. But!!! Yay! You gots another motor....that works!! Cool beans, greenjeans!

Yeah the engine sucked and it did set me back about $300 including shipping. The guy said he was pulling it because he was doing an engine swap and that it needed a tchain/cover because it mixed a little oil with water. I wasn't too worried about that until it showed up and I realized that it had been run with an oil/water mixture for some time and on top of that the HG was completely toast. It also had evidence of some pretty bad blow-by and a few other problems, and that was what we could spot by eye. My mechanic is actually doing the work and he said he wouldn't feel comfortable just throwing some crank bearings in and calling it good so I said screw it and got a rebuilt. I've never had a brand new 22re so I'm hoping it will be more powerful than all the 185k+ 4 bangers Ive had in my toyotas but I don't care that much, it's my favorite engine.

 

You'll love and enjoy it. Just follow toyota's break in instruction's to the letter for that engine, and you'll should hit 200k miles no problem, I think.

 

I think it should be a good engine. I'm pretty easy on my junk for the most part and the company I bought it from uses all the same parts as Engnbldr so I have confidence in the parts that went into it. I know a few members on a local board that have bought from them and did fine so I'm not worried. Any tips for engine break in from anyone? I've never ever had a new engine.
