Custom snorkel for 1st gen - blizzard/4hummer design

Well, I wanted a snorkel for my car but I wasnt prepared to spend big bucks on a safari. I saw 4hummer's snorkel and blizzard's. Both of them looked great but I wasnt sure about the width of my 1st gen panels for taking the 2.5" pipe - I gave it a try anyway...

for a home brewed install that thing looks pretty good. Might consider using a hose/band type clamp around the intake though instead of the wire. Hate to see that thing get taken off.
Any pictures of how you did the intake ot the carb.

Very nice! You can always get a metal pipe bent and painted like I did.

What engine do you've in your truck? A 2L-T? We never got 1st Gen 4Runners in Spain...

It's a type of hose clamp which pulls the 2 wires. The photo doesnt show the bolt on the other side. You're right though, I should probably beef it up a little.

No pics of the inside but I'll describe it. I put the hole through the body to line up perfectly with the air intake (once I removed a section of the air intake). My flexi hose lined up nicely, added some silicon and wrapped a layer of rubber sheeting around it + 2 hose clamps.

Thanks Blizzard. I did like your set up, and was tempted to go with the metal pipe but I dont have a pipe bender and I was in a bit of a hurry to get it installed before the weekend. I might change it later.

The engine is a 2L (2.4 diesel) with an added ARB turbo.

I went down to a local rubber store and they had different rolls of seals to choose from. I chose one that has wire through it which makes it hug the sheet metal pretty well, it has the metal in a rib formation so it still flexes, and there is also a foam layer which makes a seal around the pipe.

Hi,

you have done a fantastic job! Just want to know where did you buy the snorkel head from?

Also do you have any pictures to show the connections between the snorkel and the air filter.

Thanks
Sajid
