$200 Battery Cable?

I wonder if any of you can explain why a positive battery cable for my 99 4Runner is a $200.00 part. Is this goofy or normal?

There's a lot of pieces on it, not just the single wire. The wiring usually comes complete, so anything that's taped in the harness from the factory comes along with it. You can always have a stereo shop put a new end on the existing wire, or make you a new one.

Almost any stereo shop will have a heavy duty crimping tool, plus gold plated contacts, and 4ga wiring...

That said, I prefer genuine Toyota battery terminals over almost any other kind, with the possible exception of VW ones.

Its normal, becuase on the 5vz its not just the battery cable. There are a host of wires and plugs in the positive cable harness assy.

You can likely find one at a wrecking yard for cheaper than that.

Thank you. I'll start searching around for a used one.

Thank you. Both good suggestions. I only need a new terminal but I'll start looking around for a used wire and see what I find.

yeah i would just get a new terminal and crimp it on... but if you have a lot of junk yards down there i guess go for it, but it is quite a big pain in the but to get the old wiring out

I've got an Interstate battery shop by my house and they custom made some battery cables (for my boat) that were only about $10.
might try that if its an option for you.

A plain jane bolt on battery terminal is easy to install, just make sure you strip and put all the wires into it.
