Good deal or not?

Im thinking about buying a 81 toyota pick up with a lift, 4 speed tranny, 85 22r, 411 gears, and new 35" tsl's for 1500. Has a little bit of body damage, starts first try, but the tranny is a little questionable. clutch goes straight to the floor board but i took a look at the slave cylinder and theres a tear in the boot and no fluid in the master cylinder. So i went out and bought a new slave cylinder and im going to install it there before i buy it from the guy. The motor doesnt knock at all but theres a water leak coming from a line or something right underneath the intake, dont know what or where its coming from. the trucks just going to be my hunting truck, but just wanted to ask you guys what you think about it and give me some pointers on what i should look for since im new to the yota world. thanks a ton,

Justin

Take off the oil cap, look for white milky oil, if there is white it needs a head gasket, around $1300 or so. You can do it for cheaper though. Check for leaks and such. Where are you located?

Haha a headgasket is $1300 IF your a moron..

Try about 25$ and if you decide to mill the head a bit while its off, more for shop labor..

Felpro Gaskets are the Shizz, I say go for it, Could be a neat truck. And 35" TSL's prolly cost more then half of what hes asking for the truck!

Ahahha, Yeah except for the machine work on the head if its been run, new studs/timing set, possibly bottom end rebuild too.

Best way to do it if your on the cheap.. swap! Running 20R/22R's can be had as cheap(like $100) here, my buddy traded a 12 pack of beer for a running 22R once, and paid 75$ for another.

Sounds like you might be able to get it a little cheaper, but the price is not too bad. Might want to also do a compression check. Check the floor boards for rot too. The windshields like to leak sometimes and collect moisture in the carpet...
Are those rims 15x12's or 15x14's?
I would have considered that truck....
