i wondered about that thing once before too. I have the same thing. I checked the service manual and all the diagrams I found had the blank plug too and I could find nothing in the wiring diagram either....
Maybe somebody can solve it...Looks like a good place to add an extra switch...

factory it was for a manual throttle (diesel models); or overdrive switch (Automatic models)

Those were only the 2wd's as far as I know, Neither option was very good.

yeah 2wd long bed diesel was an option

and 2wd automatic was available in deluxe and maybe base; unsure of beds

There was first gen diesel 4x4s too, well around here. My Cab is actually a 81 diesel that i picked up from a farmer, then built it with an 20r. It has stock dual battery trays for 1.

hahaha, thats my headlight pull switch, im guessin DEF not factory. Does yall's multi function switch act as head light switch too? as in switch for dash lights?

headlights are the blinker stalk twisting forward....

I installed my "idiot" light .. from my "foot" controlled (domestic headlamp dimmer) into that spot , for my front spot lamps .. it was a perfect fit , and looked like a big red eye ball ...

I kinda wish they made first gen diesel 4x4s for the US, I am pretty sure that was Canada, Japan Europe thing. But it sounds like they weren't very good...

yeah... a ludicrous speed system is great... but isnt that too fast? i mean, light speed.. wait.. light speed is too slow.. .. just be sure to buckle up, you dont want to smash your helmet

its for the factory fog light package that some of the trucks came with my friend Jay had an 83 with factory fog lights and that is where the switch was at
