You can do a 1" body lift on the 2WD automatics:
Plus ball joint spacers up front for 1.5"-2" of lift:

And new springs, an add-a-leaf or longer spring shackle in back:

Hit up http://4wheelparts.com for the body lift. The site says they offer a 2" and a 3" kit. Whether or not it will work with your automatic will depend on whether it's floor or column shift.
For the front lift, total chaos has a long travel kit for them that can net around 4" lift. http://www.chaosfab.com/92200.html
Downey offers a kit as well- about 2-3" lift: http://www.downeyoff-road.com/Suspen...s/1979-95.html
You have more options for the rear though including leaf springs and shackles as well as mounting the spring over the axle.

I'd do:
BJ Spacers
AAL's
Bilstein Shocks
1" Body Lift
31" BFG A/T's
You'll have something you can catch some air with, hit some pretty gnar mud roads, and DD.. I kinda wish I had a 2WD to do that with..

4x4's don't all suck fuel
last time I checked my mileage, it was a 322 mile drive in my 4runner and used 15.7 gallons to fill up (without topping) and this was up and over I-5/Grapevine and several downshifts to 3rd. that's about 20 mpg average.

And, my bro gets 18-20 on I-5 doing 55mph
The main thing I hate is people who buy 4wds. Like my neighbor, but NEVER use it. It's like being ugly and buying condoms. No matter how much you think you will need to use it in the end you'll probably never need it.
