im looking at possible getting a rough country lift since i have been told rancho lifts are more of on road driving and not off road type.. so does anyting have any pros and cons on rough country lifts?

Ha dirtoyboy is kinda right.

I have their 4" IFS bracket lift. I get asked my opinion
on these all the time. Basically, the RC lift is a Superlift
kit that is painted rather than zinc-coated, meaning it
costs a decent amount less. Structurally, it is no better
or worse than any other bracket lift for our trucks.
I wheel mine frequently and have had zero issues with it.

Many on this board are quick to dismiss bracket-style
kits for the simple reason that the lift components become
the weakest link to your suspension. While this is true,
it really depends on the kind of wheeling you plan on doing
as to whether or not you will run into problems. Extreme
rock crawling and other types of wheeling that are
especially hard on your suspension might bring out the
worst in these kits.

All in all, I say go for it.

if you want a cheap and comfortable ride go with pro comp I ran there 4" on my 82 and loved it it rode and drove awesome and flexed even better

I'd personally get skyjacker, but rough country is good, its good for offroadin, sucks on road, but my friend has one on his truck and it is one tough lift, oh, and its cheap, thats the best part.

 

I'd cut my fenders and do a body lift long before a bracket lift. Maybe get a set of HD torsions and call it good. Since the travel is the same might as well go cheap and break out the sawzall. IIRC those 4" bracket lifts will clear 33's. I'd do a 2" body lift and cut the fenders and 33's are easy, maybe 35's. For parts in a box, the benefits vs cost does not justify a bracket lift.

And either way you need some gears and lockers to do well off road. So save the money and forget the cheesey bracket lift, go BL and sawzall and put it into gears and lockers. It will get you so much farther.
