newbs plan of attack for a clutch job
ok so i need to do a clutch im my trail rig.. i have a tranny jack
now right by the cross member connected to the tranfser case there is this support with a rubber block on it.... can i use my floor jack to support tranny under this while i remove cross member so i can remove front drive shaft so i can put my tranny jack under it??
also my sockets wont fit on the drive shafts .. and i cant get any torque on a small 12mm wrench..
im planning out my attack for friday afternoon ..while tranny is out im going to install my welded rear and then drop the truck anbd change a cv.. pb blastering mon-fri!!!!!!
yotatech rocks and thanks in advance
i also have 2 feet in extension and a clutch alignment tool, pilot bearing and throw out bearing.. im not doing the seals because if it aint broke dont fix it and its just a trail rig!

I think you want to support the trans-t/c so you can remove the crossmember, in order to make it easier to remove front ds. Yes, you can do this, but the tricky part is switching jacks when you need to. It usually requires using something smaller like a bottle jack instead of a floor jack. You should be able to figure something out, but remember to be safe.

sounds like you have the extentions covered, how are you planning to remove the old pilot bushing?

i have a floor jack to put under the tcase.. THEN once i get the cross member off im going to use my other floor jack with TRANNY ADAPTER to pick up the tranny.. i have a bottle jack under my engine and the truck is up on 4 jack stands!
what i means about the sockets is my drive shaft the way it connects i dont think i could get any sockets on it.. almost like you need to use a wrench from the side for clearence... if that makes any sense...
the pilot bushing i was going to try the grease trick i have also read about using wax but i dont know if they mean to melt wax in there or just shove some parafin wax in there..
thanks guys.. and dirtboy toy im amazed at your idea of the o ish handles!
