Replacing a key and power lock key fob

O.k> I'm scared to ask how much it's going to cost me to replace a key and power door lock key fob for my 99 runner.
Is the stealer the only choice with a stock system?

thanks, kenny S>

Look on ebay for the remotes , I have seen them there for a low price. The key I don't think is too expensive at the dealer, as you don't have a key with a chip in it.

WHATS!?

Take your VIN # and proof of ownership (insurance) to the dealer and they'll make you a key for like $6.

Stock alarm is RS3000, so buy a new FOB off of ebay and:

Am I correctly understanding your problem? You don't need the whole 1 piece unit. I hate that key.... haha

Hope I helped...

I have a mismatched set of locks on my 4runner. The ignition doesn't match the doors/hatch lock but I didn't know that until AFTER I bought the truck. Guess what I do now when I test drive any used vehicle?! I went to a wrecking yard and obtained an entire set of locks from another 98 for $45. Only problem was I needed a key. If the lock set has been changed out the vin number will not get you a key that will work. If the locks were changed as a set, take the passenger door lock out. It has the key code for the lock set stamped on the tumbler. I went to my dealership, gave them the passenger door lock from the truck I was getting the locks from. Showed the parts guy my receipt for the locks, he cut me a key and it cost me $4. Took that key back to the yard and pulled the ignition switch tumbler. It was like a 30 second job if you have the key for the ignition, but another story. I purchased another remote on eBay for less then $25 with the instructions on how to reprogram the remote. So I got an entire set of locks, key, remote all for less then $75. just depends on how much you want to do and how big of a hurry you are in.
