Since I stripped the interior of my 4runner to do my sound deadening project, I had easy access to my RS3000 alarm brain unit. So I put it on a pine wood block:



I HIGHLY recommend doing this. If you spill any kind of liquid on the floor, your brain unit will soak. My experience (and I also believe SLC_Punk's) was that my alarm freaked out. My original alarm brain unit was fried when I purchased it too. I discovered that fact after the sale when I opened it up and saw there was some sort of white residue that had corroded the unit.

Also of note, it has been 6 days since the water spilled onto my carpet. When I took out the carpet out of my 4runner for the sound deadening project, it was completely soaked. It was made even worse b/c it soaked the carpet padding too which soaks up water like a sponge. It was so soaked that when I stepped on it, it splashed. No joke. Thus, my advice is anytime you or someone spills something, soak it up ASAP.

Good job Bob. I wasn't in town this week to do it on mine. What size wood did you use?

 

Yep.. and I will 1 up you too.. Buy some nylon spacers and space it up about 1/8" to bring it off the wood to leave an air space under it as well..

Good idea. I did think about something like that but this was the quick, no-hassle way.

Travis: it's a 1/2" pine board that I cut from scrap wood. I think you can use anything for that matter so long as you get the dang brain unit off the floor.

why not flip it over and mount it to the bottom of the seat? Is there enough travel in the wires?
