2wd toyota gas mileage?

Well I just started a new job and I have a little bit of a commute. My 86 4Runner will be fixed soon but I'd still like to keep the mileage off it if possible and I got to thinking about a 2wd Toy for my commute on non snow days and for the summer. What type of mileage do 2wd toys get, fi and carbed? I know that they do pretty well on the highway, my buddy had an 86 2wd that I got to drive a few times and the little thing hauled ass compared to any of my 80-92 4x4 toys have.

I forgot to mention, I really don't like cars so this is about as close to a car as I'm willing to get lol.

I was looking at something like this but would prefer something newer with fuel injection. This is a sweet truck.

Seems like 2wd toys go for next to nothing here in Colorado.

That's not too bad at all.

I just found this page if anyone is interested. You can find out a lot of stats on a lot of vehicles as far as gas mileage etc. goes. It also breaks it down by vehicle body, engine, trans etc. http://www.fueleconomy.gov

1987 2wd longbed 22r carb 5 speed -- 20 to 21
0to60 in 11 sec top speed 100mph

1990 2wd xtracab 22re automatic -- 18 to 20
0to60 in 13.5 to 14 sec. top speed 95

1993 2wd xtracab 3.0 automatic -- 19 to 23
0to60 in 9.5 to 10 sec top speed 110plus

cant explain why the 3.0 gets the best mileage, but it does.

hmm... I have a '91 xtra cab with automatic and it gets about 19 mpg on the highway, on a good day, with a tail wind, down hill, with the engine off and me pushing it.... ... nah... honestly- the engine was running.... hehe
seriously though, on flat ground around town, no freeway, it gets about 17 mpg.

lol...I love this thread

91 Toyota - 22re, 2wd, standard cab, 5spd, NO OPTIONS!!! 22 town, 27 highway doing 65-70mph with one bad piston...and 95mph top speed. I've heard of one doing 125mph...but I don't really believe it.

Last time I checked, I was averaging 29 MPG in my '88 carbed 4x2 4 speed. That is average driving in the mountains, and taking it very easy. It has no options at all, no power steering, A/C, etc.

My '87 4x4 gets about 20-22 MPG in the same driving conditions.

before my lift and stock tires i got 24-29. now after my lift and 235/75s i still get 20-26.
but for $1200 i would definitely sport that one you listed.

I have a 95 2wd 5 speed, no options. When I rage on it low 20's. If I take it easy 28ish.

Those are definitely better numbers than my 4x4 Runner gives me. Looks like I'll be hunting one down after I get my truck fixed.

25-29 town and up to 33 on the highway. Back in the day when the speed limit was 55, I could pull 36 on continuous level ground. Unfortunately those days are gone forever........unless I move to Oregon
