after i put a new tps sensor on it ran great for about 30 min and it started doing it all over again.....a friend/shade tree mechanic suggested that mabey something in the electrical system spiked the tps and messed it up...could this have happened?

I fell your pain. I'm fighting the same battle with my truck. From reading the FSM I think the TPS is just a reastat. The procedure for testing it is a simply measuring resistance at different possitions. If you think its in the TPS I would check all the connections and look for chaffed or pinched wires.
