I unplugged my TPS since I am having some surging problems and my truck just idles higher (2200rpm) but doesn't surge. Does it sound like I need to adjust it? Where is the article thingy on where or how to do it?

Thanks!

TPS might impact timing - advance it and make it idle high.
Alternately you've got a vac leak.. I really don't know what will happen.

Yep, I do have a vacuum leak. I can literally unhook the line that goes to the butterfly assembly to the front top of the valve cover and my truck does nothing. I can see a couple cracks and holes in a couple lines. But when I spray wd-40 or something my idle does NOT change...that is why I haven't done anything yet.

try starting fluid or something else that burns easier than wd-40 on the cracks..or just replace em.

the truck should run with the tps unhooked (your thread title question) but it'll run in hobble mode

ya i just finished my rebuild and i had thought that my egr gasket was leaking cuz i could hear a vac leak, and engine would studder bad at idle, turned out when i pulled the intake manifold off i forgot the hose that goes from the intake manifold to the pcv valve, well i forgot one side of it, found that problem tonight!

How does that work? Mine shuts off after about 1 second after startup with the AFM unplugged. I though they shut off the fuel pump or something... unless you jump those 2 wires to fool it...

Sorry for the hijack
