ok, as were driving the air fuel does what it does, all good then after a little bit and more then 1/4 throttle, it goes right to rich and has no power at all!! I have to drop to 3rd gear to go up any grade hill!!!! it has a very bad smell almost raw fuel but not sure smells funny, when you let off the gas then just go away but not all time. we drove 18 hours (with a few stops here and there and let her cool down(not that she needed it)) and then after starting her shes all good then about 5- 10 miles down the road bam no power unless im drafting a simi.... and then i still cant go over 75 miles an hour

31x9.5r15 with 4.11 gears never had this before untill now


im in denver co right now for the night and im going to be heading to san diego cali i do cb and always on ch19 if theres anything anyone can help me with this i would really love it also my cell phone just cause i dont have internet in my truck you can text pix or call anything that might help as i wont be getting online untill the morning and after that not untill we get to san diego

sounds like the cat is clogged so buy a new one

 

True true, if you smell something that resembles rotten eggs/burning puke and a good loss of power especially in higher throttle the cat is probably toast. Worst case scenario unbolt that bastard, hollow it out a bit and fix it when you get home. Pull it off and hold it up to a light. If you can't see anything through it you know it's clogged.

 

thats a good idea guys one problem though i dont have a cat i took it off along time ago cause it was cloged lol. i have a sorkle home made air filter at top of drivers door(short ram intake or snorkle it does it with both) stock injectors, stock fuel pump, stock exhaust mani, stock muffler(no cat dumps out just before the rear tires) all stock other then the intake and the no cat any other ideas though?

I was thinking that the mas air flow was going cause when you shut it off from time to time you can hear it bang, like the flap is shutting really really fast and hitting the case or something.

well when we were at the top of the rocky's about 4,500 feet we hit 110 dont know how are why it did but it did and that was on a flat spot but yeah 72 was about the most i could get out of her and the speed limit out here is insane 75???? my god i cant go that fast lol

 

its the same way on the 15. 75 is the max. but they have slow lanes, so thats what i use.

 

wow, so i guess im not alone, my 91 4runner doesnt go that fast either....70 max.

i get the same stinky smell when i accell hard
