so im on the way back from picking up some olive garden for the fam

doing about 75 ~ 80 i put it in 5th
when i started up an incline my engine hickuped/hesitated/jumped
i backed off a bit and in 4th i had no issues
finally i get off and got into third no issues either
i got into my nighborhood
when i accelerated it did it again
it was really weird and scary cause i didnt want to have to push the sob cause i have a broken arm
any ideas on what to check first or what a sollution could be
and yes
i just put gas in so rule that out

cloged fuel filter?

that's the first two thing that come to my mind you need to determin if it's a fuel or spark issue

Coil wire is the wire that goes from the distributor to the coil. Look for a circular thinger with 5-7 wires from it. Check connections on both sides of all wires.

Fuel filter should be inside of frame rail on passenger side. May be hidden. Look for fuel lines clamped to the rail.

For what its worth you could change the filter regardless.

 

Pull the filter and dump it out of the inlet side maybe even blow in the outlet side and see what the fuel looks like coming out. I put a container under it to collect the fuel and it came out brown with lots of dirt, rust, etc.

 

well all the wires and things coming from the distributor looked good no tears or anything

i found the fuel filter
but as my dad says
the fuel pump and fuel filter are new

as i was searching for the fuel filter though
i found this

Yeah, you need to ground that to the stud with the nut on it you see about 3 inches behind that wire on the intake in that picture. If it wont go to that one there is another one not showing in the picture, so ground it to that.

Just about to tell you to check your grounds. Good chance thats the issue.

A real easy solution to that hickuping ish is to swap a 3.0 in there. The best couple bucks you could ever spend!

 

check your electrical. wait a second, did you say 75 to 80MPH with a 22RE??
on an INCLINE??? i can get mine up that fast on FLAT road with NO incline, can max it out goin downhill. whats your secret?

took it for a spin
and it never hickupped
but the again
i didnt get it warm
it seems like this only happens when its plenty warm
i deff wanna get this thing solid before i venture on a 1200 some odd mile move back to california
with that said

EGR may be starting to stick, try checking codes. see if you got any stored.
