There should be a little box on the inside of your passenger fender marked diagnostic port , mine grey. Open the cap on it and there is a diagram of the terminals in it. Use a paper clip or short piece of wire as a jumper between
te1 & e1 then turn your key to the on position (do not turn over or start) watch your check engine light with a pen and paper ready to record codes. Double digit codes such as 43 for example will flash 4 times pause then 3 times, then on to your next code. When they cycle through they will repeat.

You said you found that wire while searching for the fuel filter. You sure you found the fuel filter and not the charcoal canister?

From: Cincinnati, Ohio - Amelia is the exact place. There is no one else on this site from where I am. Seems like everyone is from Cali or Washington. I guess I need to move.

That was sarcasim, please dont try to do a 3.0 swap at home. Like MMA said, you either want to get a part time job at the Zone, or invest into Felpro stocks :o)

If the CEL continuously blinks at 2 per second, that means all is good.

The fuel filter should be about even with the center of the door inside the frame rail, not under the hood.

Try replacing your plug wires, if they have some age on them they can cause a missfire under load.

well i own a 90 toy p/u my truck used to hicup and sputer after i went to an aftermarket coil so i switch it back to factory didnt have a prob til recently when it does it every so often so i plan to change the coil once again i dont know about the codes
try a haynes manual you can pic them up for about 15 bucks at any auto parts store as for your fuel filter look under your intake at the back it is bolted to the block behind the oil filter kinda above the started you will see the fuel lines if you look thrpough the passenger wheel well its a big fat rubber hose straped to a brake line (t) spliter try changing the coil

well my dad did remind me the fuel pump was recently replaced
so i doubt thats the problem
i didnt get a chance to get it opened up on the freeway today
but after a little nagging my GF convinced me to wash it
(i dont think trucks should be clean)

after i grounded that wire though
it seems like its surging
this used to only happen when i was on the brakes and it was warm
but now its happening no matter what
any ideas would be helpful ??
