Got New 33s'; now front vibrates!! Help!

I went front 32s' to 33s' today and as I was heading home, I noticed moderate steering vibration as I was braking and my Runner just seemed misaligned. When I had the 32s' on, I cranked the torsion bars to raise the front 1/2 inch(about 2 months ago)w/ out incident and the ride was still smooth. Was something dorked up when my new tires were mounted? or is this just a consequence of the torsion bar adjustment and getting bigger tires? Input please.

If you cranked your torsion bars without an alignment, that would explain goofy handling - not sure if that impacts the vibration issue. Did you go with a mud tire (or something more aggressive) from an all terrain or highway tire? If so, the vibration might just be feedback of the tread through the steering wheel. Maybe wheels not balanced properly or lugs not tightened consistently.

Just a few thoughts...

Yea the first thing that came into my mind was balancing. Make sure none of the weights fell off on your drive back. One of mine fell off, and I noticed my steering wheel to be pretty shaky on the freeway.

Cebby, both sets of tires were BFG A/T's. Come to think of it, I requested to have the tire letters on the inside w/ the black sidewalls out , but then noticed the tire guy mounting the tires w/ the letters on the outside! Well, three tires later, he had to go back and correct this. I'm guessing the tires weren't rebalanced thus, the steering vibration. Thanks for the input.

Where did you get your tires from? Because if you got them from discount, like I did, you can go and get them balanced for free.

Did you have the new tires match mounted with a road force balancer? If so, what was the worst tire's road force reading?

Gadget, 'I don't know' to both questions; I dropped my truck off. Sorry, I'm not much help. Toyo_Runner96, I bought the tires from Merchants. I'm going back tommorow to have them re-balanced. I can't see why they would object.

You are waisting your time getting the rebalanced unless you are going to have it done correctly.

Enjoy!

Even if you didn't buy the tires from discount, they might do it for free if Merchant doesn't pull through. My friend's always taken his damaged tires or tires he's had problems with to discount and they sort him out for free or next to free, even though he buys from Big O. Also if you have aftermarket wheels or lug nuts, I hear that you should check the lug nuts after 25miles for any loose ones.
