I've got a 88 pickup with a 2inch body lift and I was debating options on tires. Right now I have 31x10.50x15s (dry rotted) on American racing wheels and want 33" BFG ATs but defiantly nothing more than that. I'm pretty sure the 33x10.50s will fit no problem. Would the 12.50s need lots of trimming? I suppose I could do some but do not want to make a mess of things. I still have some crank left in my torsion bars too, but that would make the front higher than the rear, and I already have a 2" add-a-leaf in the rear. Not a decision that needs to be made now (need to re-gear first anyway) just wondering.

 

Yes, the 33x10.50s should fit w/ minimal work (if any), assuming a wheel backspacing and width close to stock. The 12.50 will probably need more trimming and/or additional lift:

Why? Wider tires swing a wider arc while steering and that increases the chances of rubbing.

 

For people to give you an answer, you have to tell them the backspacing on the wheel.

 

The 10.50's will fit no problem, and have no downside compared to the 12.50 other than limited availability.

Note that if your current rims are narrower than 8", you'll need new rims for the wider tires, which adds considerably to the expense...

 

yea I'll just go ahead and go with the 10.50s.

 

I have no lift A/R wheels and brand spanking new 33x10.5s BFG Muds. No rubbing on D.D. and there is slight rubbing on sharp full lock turning up a bump. But the clearance and stance is outstanding. My 4runner is pretty low, and I have skids so I am not worried about too much

 

i run 34-10.50 LTB's on 15x7 spare steels and cranked torsions up front with HD 2inch shackles, the overload removed and a extra leaf and from a 2wd in back and only had to trim back of front fender 1/4 inch. the 33-12.50's will fit fine and have a better foot print then the 10.50's. then i rolled it!!!! know I dont run any fenders. Formula Toy frame, 5.13 gears and 36" goodyear OZ's commin soon! For all running stock suspension the setup i had in the back listed above flexes like crazy but needs a traction bar!!!

Well I have got an 86 4x4. I have a set of 265x80x16's swampers that are like brand new! I wanna put then on my TOY. So I am gonna go and get some rims from Summit tomm. Will these work?

I cranked down my torsion bars a little. I have 31x11.50x15's right now and it seems like there is pleanty of room. I am not gonna wheel it too hard right now. Just tryin to make it an arround town truck and huntin buggy. I think I might need a little block lift in the rear tho??
