Hey i was looking at getting one of those marlin crawler style rear bumpers for a 4runner, but i have one of those swing out tire carriers. Does anybody know any bumpers that look good on those?

Also, in everyones opinion what rock sliders look good?

I use Trail-Gear sliders. They are identical to Marlin as far as I can tell. And they look great when they protect your sheet metal.

Those are the ones I'm getting for my rig in the next couple of weeks.

 

I have an Allpro front, custom sliders built by me. And a Marlin rear bumper.(not on yet)

I like square sliders due to they are easier to make. And I personally like the look.

 

mine is a 3rd gen but i like my trail gear sliders as well

 

are the trail gear ones hard to install? I can weld, just have to find a welder first! I mean is there a lot of cutting and measuring involved?

 

Im thinking about maybe getting the ones with the kickout, do those look good on the 4runners?

took like 3 hrs of work but it think they turned out really nice

 

shoot i might buy those then, i was thinking about the all pro ones but, for $135 why not!

904_runner, I bought the TG sliders as well. I didn't buy the gussets though, so now I had to order those and will hopefully get them on this wknd. Here's a recent thread on where to get them cheaper. Linky.

If you have a choice bolt the sliders on since it's better for the frame and you can remove them if you have to for a reason like resale or repair.

 

Why is it better to bolt on? Does welding weaken the frame more than drilling?

 

Welding can weaken the frame but I don't think it's a big issue but the possibility is there but I'll be bolting mine on for the reason of easy removal in the event of a resale or if I have to remove/put them back on for any reason I want that option.

 

I have the cheapo TG sliders...they work fine but are HREW....

havent dented them yet though and im pretty hard on em. I also have a pretty light truck
