im running a full magnaflow highflow cat w/ magnaflow muffler and tip and it sounds sweet especially at low rpms. But once it gets high, like any 4banger it sounds like a lawn mower

Do you want it to be loud. Do you want headers also or just exhaust. I have had a few toyotas with different configurations. I had a 1988 with a D&D street bike muffler on it. Sounded sweet. Quite loud though. I had a red 4 1987 runner with a cherry bomb and it was pretty loud also but didn't sound as good as the D&D. I had a cherry bomb on my 94 truck but took it off and put on a D&D that I picked up for free when I worked for a motorcycle shop. With that and the NWOR header I had it was quite loud. Now with the turbo it sounds alot quieter but also good. I say get creative and try something different. It is aluminum also so it wont ever rust. My cousin had a forklift muffler on his 4runner and it sounded good.

I have the Downey stuff, it's kinda loud but I like the little extra power I got out of it.

I have the passenger side exhaust system off my cobra, leftover from when I changed it out. It matched up very nice to my toyota, just had to cut and weld a couple of the hangers in different locations. Makes my truck sound kind of like a cross between 4cyl mustang and an over reved tractor.

I have two 22re trucks with header + exhaust.

I have Doug Thorley tri-y headers with 2 1/4 " pipe with Flowmaster super 40
muffler.Sounds quiet on idle and nice deep thundering tone on the highway. It gets louder on full throttle.Itll turn heads with people around.
My other truck has LCE headers with 2 1/4" pipe and SS Borla muffler.Sounds quiet on idle and decent tone on the highway. Its a better set up for the daily driver.
Both set-up has less restriction for top end for highway throttle but still excellent back pressure on the low end.Excellent performance for 4 wheeling providing that the 22re is in top tune-up condition.
