I am pissed!!! ....and now I need help!

So I got to Costco today to have my Cross Terrains Rotated, and the guy says that they are down to 3/32 or something on all 4 tires so he couldn't. I have put 38K on these and they have a 65K warranty. I am pissed. I had them rotated and I align the truck all the time and I don't go off road or anything else. They gave me the 45% left credit which is about $345 on new CRs or some other tires there. He said I could still get about 10-15K out of them, so I don't know what to do. Spend 400 or so now, or spend about what...600 in 8-12 months? I don't know. The other tires are Michelin LTX X radials, LTX M/S, or LTX A/T2. He did say they don't have a mileage warranty but should last longer. What would you do.....are there any other tires to get that I should order from them there that are not in stock. Thanks in advance....this sucks!

How was the wear pattern on them? Did you look at them yourself to make sure they are actually 3/32?

Yeah...it does look pretty low. I just assumed they were ok, but I looked a lot closer. If i go with those other m/s, what can I get for mileage?

I had them on my last 4Runner for 20k and you could barely tell any difference. We also have them on our Land Cruiser and have had them for around 80k

My dad got 85K out of a set of Michelin LTX M/S tires on a 1999 GMC Jimmy. He is good about keeping tires rotated and keeping his vehicles aligned.

Go with the Michelins, always worth the extra dough. I could tell a large difference in handling when I swiched to Michelin also, held the corners way better.

Man, I almost don't want to give Michelin any more money, but that looks to be the way to go. What about the Revos??

  1. Don't Sweat the little stuff
  2. Everything is little stuff

I am looking at having to replace my Wild Country's. I bought them in 2003. Been driving on them since. They have close to 80K on them. Will be looking to go back to them.

I put a set on my Bronco II in '99, they are finally down to where they need to be replaced....they've got about 67,000 miles on them.
When it came time to replace the Cross Terrains on the 4runner I switched to LTX M/S based on performance and wear on the 'Co. They've now got a bit over 40,000 miles and a ways to go. I'm much happier with them than the Cross Terrains.

I put 90k on my first set of Michelin LTX M/S. Over the years, my experience has been you can't go wrong with Michelin tires. You get what you pay for!

THIS

great tire for all conditions. it is awesome in rain and wet highways

pulls good in snow. a little slippery steering in snow. it is not a blizzack

goes ok up over wet rocks, awesome on dry rocks, pulls great in mud.

and it lasts a looooong time

Revos are softer than the LTX. They might have better (offroad, wet and snow) traction but they will wear out faster. I doubt mine will go much past 40K
