Yes, it's a french company, but all the tires we see are made on this side of the pond.

Haha...owned by the french...yea a french company YET the tires are made in the USA

1) Call back and see if they can give you more $$$ for your prorated tires? sounds kind of BS to me... that costco would pro rate that?
2) I have put 30 K on my new cross terainds and really have no visible signs of wear at all...Go figure? Hey I know that there are mich cross terains with a lesser tread wear rating and they were a little cheaper ...Yet I went with the thicker tread I spent $170.00 Per tire at costco before the $60.00 rebate
3) the mich LTX is a good tire yet an older design....I would go with the MICH cross terains again as I have nothing but great things to say about these tires....in 4WD (or 2WD) these tire freakin stick to the road under all conditions

Please see my avatar for proof of how good these tires are.....Take the money and go with the Cross terrains again

Lol. Blame Canada j/k

Doesn't Costco carry BFG?? I'd spend the extra dough on the AT's

I had Michellin's when I got my Runner..boy did I runn those bad boys down, must've been a good pair of slicks when we peeled those bad boys off.

You do get what you pay for in tires, but I'm not claiming going all in-we all like to save chips. I'd ride em out or use the credit...still funny though, prorating tires? hmmm

Don't ride em out ...Use the credit!! You all got almost 40K miles off of those tires and they are going to get worse and worse as the tread wears even more....take the money and run
also and the BFG is a good lower cost option as they are owned by MICH they ride a little rougher yet they still are good tires...

I went with the Michelin Cross Terrains because they WERE supposed to be good tires....I searched here over and over before I bought them! Oh well, I am going to take the money. My membership is up so I wonder if they are going to make me re-up that. I will call tomorrow. The sad thing is the guy there and the guy at another Costco both said that it was not uncommon to see that happen. I really don't care about ride comfort near as much as wear and performance. It is KC so a couple snowy days and average rainfall. Here are the prices. They also only sell what they have there and cannot order other brands any for like they could before such as BS Revos.

Michelin
LTX AT/2 - $174
LTX M/S - $162
X Radial $159

Seems like everyone here says the M/S... I don't know either those or the A/T2s

Costco is known for it's excellent warranty. Maybe tires don''t count but raise holy hell. Ask to see a manager. If he doesn't budge see his manager and so on (as nice as possible of course). Just seems odd they wore so fast!

And who gives a crap if Micheline are french tires... just call em freedom tires and it will all be good. *smirk*

"They can take our tires.....BUT THEY CAN't TAKE OUR FREEDOM...!!!"
hehe

Hey, you should not have to renew your membership for that.... Costco is great and they will take care of you, ask them to throw another $100.00 on top of the deal as YOU WERE REAL DISSIPOINTED with the entire "tire experience" (with the 38k miles X-terrains.... ]
FYI: I have had real good luck with the cross terrains yet i'm only at 30K miles....I think they go another 40K easy....yet based on your experience, I will pay CLOSE attention to the wear BEFORE the 65K mile warrenty expires...
HEY THE MICH LTX is "tried and true" and will not fail your expectations and costs less, and many peeps claim that they go 80K minimum... they won't be as "road/ride smooth" as the X terrains yet they grip and wear like a "son of a gun"....
How fast do you drive?

My 02 4x4 came with LTX M/S's when I bought it a month ago and I hated the tire. The sidewall was so soft that I thought the shocks were bad so I changed them when that didn't work I knew the tire had to go. I dont know how many miles the tires were on the truck but it looked like I could go another 20,000 miles before I'd have to purchase another set. I just said the heck with it and purchased some BF Goodrich All Terrain KO's and am much more pleased with the way the truck rides.

In the LTX M/S's defense I read about 200 customer reviews on the tire and I read more positive comments on it than any other tire I was thinking about purchasing.

Good luck

I saw those for the first time on a chevy outside my work the other day and they looked like they were wearing pretty good! Cool tire.
